The students of St. Boniface School will be participating in the annual Terry Fox Walk in support of Cancer Research. Everyone has been affected somehow by the harsh realities of this terrible disease. Our efforts to raise funds will make a difference in the fight against cancer, and our involvement in this worthwhile activity will give cancer patients the gift of hope.
On Wednesday, September 27th, in the morning, all students will be led outside by their classroom teacher (Rain date will be Friday, September 29th). Due to time restraints as a result of the Intermediate baseball tournaments that are taking place in the afternoon, the students will walk the perimeter of our school yard, so a permission form is not required. Primary classes are encouraged to walk for at least half an hour, and junior and intermediate students are encouraged to walk for approximately an hour. Exact times may be determined by individual classroom teachers.
In the past, students have been asked to donate a loonie or a toonie towards this cause. This year, each classroom has been provided with a coin jar, and students will be encouraged to bring in loose change from now until September 29th. In addition to the loose change that students contribute, loonie and toonie donations will also be accepted prior to the day of the walk. All money raised will be donated directly to The Terry Fox Foundation to support cancer research. Let’s make a difference by donating whatever we can.
Students are asked to dress appropriately for the weather, and are encouraged to carry a water bottle. Parents are welcome to participate in this event as well.
