On Thursday February 13 at 7pm, the Waterloo Regional Police Service are hosting a rural community meeting at the Maryhill Community Centre, specifically for the small communities within Woolwich including Maryhill, Conestogo, Winterbourne, Bloomingdale, and West Montrose.

The topics that will be covered include:

  • Educate the community about locking sheds, doors, windows, vehicles
  • CPTED principles – Crime Prevention Through Environment Design
  • The way to handle a situation – discovering a break and enter or theft that has occurred?
  • Observing suspicious behavior/vehicle? When to call 9-1-1? Obtaining suspect descriptions, etc
  • Information on online reporting, contacting police
  • What police can/can’t do in a variety of situations and investigations
  • Using community Facebook groups to share information
  • What to do with video if suspects are observed on home video
