WCDSB Communication Guidelines

Oct 26, 2022

Dear Panther Families,

Please consult our School Board’s communication guidelines.

Parent / Guardian / Stakeholder Communication Guidelines

When a parent, guardian or other board stakeholder has a concern or suggestion, it is expected that the concern/suggestion will first be taken up with the staff member with whom the parent / guardian / stakeholder has the concern/suggestion.

Therefore, the following process will be followed:

Step One: Speak directly to the staff member. If the issue is not resolved, proceed to step two.
Step Two: Speak to the Principal. If the person with the concern has not yet addressed the issue with the staff member involved, the Principal will ask them to do so.
Step Three: If, having spoken to the Principal, the person with the concern believes the issue is not resolved, they may speak to the Superintendent of Learning responsible for the school.
Step Four: If, having spoken to the Superintendent of Learning responsible for the school, the person with the concern believes the issue is not resolved, they may speak to the Director of Education.
Step Five: If, having spoken to the Director of Education, the person with the concern believes the issue is not resolved, they may register as a delegation to address the Board of Trustees. Information on how to register as a delegation to the board is available in the WCDSB General Operational & Procedural Bylaw. Please note that stakeholders are free to address the Board of Trustees as a registered delegation at any time, subject to any pertinent laws, regulations or board policies.

Fundraising to Assist Hurricane Fiona Recovery Efforts in Atlantic Canada

October 4, 2022

Dear Panther Families,

WCDSB has a long tradition of fundraising to assist relief efforts when natural disasters strike.

The devastation of Hurricane Fiona across Atlantic Canada has once again called us to action.

Last weekend, the Prime Minister announced the federal government will match all funds raised via the Canadian Red Cross.

Donations will support the range of emergency services the Red Cross is delivering to those in need including interim housing, clothing, food, and other essential supplies.

The Senior Team and Board of Trustees would like to invite all WCDSB schools to participate in a centralized fundraising campaign to maximize the government’s donation matching program.

All fundraising efforts will be collected centrally using the following link: https://wcdsb.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/69645/83/False/True

The deadline to participate is Friday, October 14, 2022

· The link will deposit the funds into a central board office account

· Individuals can use their existing School Cash account or checkout as a Guest. A School Cash account is not required.
